Objective

The main objective to organize this workshop was to enable the EMRs of tanneries for the implementation of EMS in the tanneries.  

Proceedings 

Day one (I)

 The arrival of participants started at 1:00 Pm. Total 14 EMRs of various tanneries attended this workshop. A file having presentations was presented to all the participants at the time of registration.

 After the registration CTP-KT team and participants visited the CETP. After this visit the documentary video film, which was prepared by CTP-KT team, on the subject of “Cleaner Production Options for Leather Processing” was shown to the participants. After this documentary show lunch was served to the participants.

 After the lunch and prayer, the program of workshop was started as per the schedule. The workshop was started with the recitation of Holy Quaran by Mr. Nasar Ul Islam Usmani at 2:00 Pm which ended at 2:05 Pm. After the recitation of Holy Quran a formal welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Majid Hussain, Senior Civil and Environmental Engineer of CTP-KT. Mr. Hussain briefly described the outline of the workshop to the participants. The welcome address was started at 2:05 Pm and ended at 2:15 PM.

 After the introductory session a presentation on the subject of “Environmental Issues of Tanneries” was delivered by Mrs. Naila Haque, Chemical Engineer of CTP-KT. This presentation was started at 2:15 Pm and ended at 2:45.

 After the first presentation another presentation on the subject of “Overview of EMS” was delivered by Mr. Farhan Ahmad, Lead auditor /technical of BVQI. This presentation was started at 2:45 and ended at 3:05 Pm. A presentation on the subject of “Policy and Planning” was also given by Mr. Farhan Ahmad, Lead auditor /technical of BVQI. This presentation was started at 3:05 Pm. and ended at 4:05 Pm.

After giving the presentation on the subject of policy and planning, Mr. Farhan delivered another presentation on the subject of “Implementation and Operation of EMS” which started at 4:05 Pm and ended at 5:05.

After the third presentation tea was served to all the participants. At the end of workshop, feedback was received from the participants on a prescribed feedback form.

Day-Two (II)

 The workshop was started as per the schedule. The workshop started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Nasar Ul Islam Usmani at 2:00 Pm after lunch and prayer. Total 17 participants attended this workshop this day.

First presentation was started at 2:05 Pm. This presentation was delivered by Mr. Farhan Ahmad, Lead auditor/technical, BVQI. The presentation was delivered on the subject of “Checking and Management Review” which started at 2: 05 and ended at

 3: 45 Pm. After this presentation tea was served to the participant.

 After the tea break a presentation on the subject of “EMS Certification Process” was delivered by Mr. Farhan Ahmad of BVQI. This presentation was started at 4:00 pm and ended at 5:00 Pm. At the end of workshop feedback was obtained from the participants.

Day-Three (III)

 The workshop started as per the schedule, after the lunch and prayer.  The workshop started at 2:00 Pm with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Nasar Ul Islam Usmani. Total 13 participants attended this workshop.

 First presentation of day three (3) was jointly delivered by Mr. Rashid Ahmad, Senior Leather Technologist and Mr. Majid Hussain on the subject of “Implementation of EMS Manual”. This presentation was started at 2:05 Pm. and ended at 3:05 Pm.
