Chemical Safety, Storage and Handling |

A workshop titled “Chemical Safety, Storage and
Handling” was organized on June 14, 2006 by CTP-KT at
National Institute of Leather Technology (NILT). This
workshop was organized for the staff of tanneries
which are attached with CTP-KT project. This workshop
was aimed to disseminate the information regarding the
subject workshop. |

Objective
The
main objective of this workshop was to transfer the
knowledge on the subject of “Chemical Safety, Storage
and Handling” and to train the participants for
adopting the recommended practices for chemical safety
and handling.
To achieve the objective of this workshop,
presentations were given on the following subjects:
1. Chemical Safety
2. Chemical Storage & Handling
Total 41 participants attended this workshop. A file
having presentation on the aforesaid subjects was
presented to the participants.
Proceedings
The
workshop was started at 3:00 Pm. with recitation of
Holy Quran by Mr. Majid Hussain, Senior Environmental
Engineer of CTP-KT. After the recitation of Holy Quran,
introduction and objectives of workshop was briefed to
the participants by Mr. Majid Hussain. Mr. Hussain,

After the introductory session a presentation on the
subject of “Chemical Safety” was given by Mr. Ayaz
Ahsan, leather technologist of CTP-KT. In his
presentation Mr. Ayaz Ahsan briefed regarding the
safety measures of chemical handling. This
presentation was started at 3:15 Pm. and ended at 3:
45 Pm.
After the presentation on chemical safety, second
presentation was delivered on the subject of “Chemical
Storage & Handling” by Mr. Furqan Hameed, senior
leather technologist of CTP-KT. Mr. Furqan Hameed
briefed regarding the safety measures and techniques
of chemical storage and handling. This presentation
was started at 3:50 Pm and ended at 4:30 Pm. After
this presentation question answers and discussions
were held where ambiguities of the participants was
addressed by the CTP-KT team.
After the discussion feedback was obtained on the
prescribed feedback form. At the end of workshop
certificates were awarded to participants.
